"The Oldest House" was built in 1781. It is located on E. Main Street in Laceyville, PA in the heart of the Endless Mountains.
This photo was taken on Wednesday September 22, 2004 just 3 days after the river crested. Residents say after the rainstorms passed the river receded rapidly. Notice the muddy water still in the river. The locals say it will be a week or so before the water color returns to normal.
The Susquehanna River bridge in Laceyville, Pennsylvania has often been called "The Most Beautiful Bridge".
I donated to the Downtown Laceyville, Pennsylvania revitalization project after I made my first trip there after Dad died in 2000. The city laid a brick with my Dad's name, date of birth and death in the sidewalk. I couldn't help but get all choaked up at seeing my Dad's name in stone on the streets of his hometown. I know that Dad is looking down from Heaven and is all choaked up also seeing what I did in his memory. Mom would always say that Dad and I were always alike when it came to these kind of things. We both got all choaked up really easy. Dad I love you and miss you.
Diane said to me as we were driving back today that there was a point in the road where we could see their house. She was'nt pulling my leg! I had to look really hard, but about 2-3 miles away in the distance there was the house. Time of day was about 7:00PM EDT. It was the first day of Autumn. I set up my Kodak DX 7440 for a telephoto shot and took this picture. This is great country and I feel totally at ease here! This country is where the Pensworth family has it's roots. This is truly "Long and Far Away from the Concrete Jungle".
